CAPABILITIES

At DMH Technical Consulting Services, Inc., we recognize that each project presents unique opportunities to apply our knowledge and skills to enhance overall project performance. Our capabilities extend into several service areas associated with building maintenance, land acquisition and construction. Brief descriptions of our most significant service areas are presented below:

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Consulting Services

There are currently few available standards, codes or regulations that provide a basis for Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) consulting and contracting services. Our training in the field of Indoor Air Quality Restoration and Microbiological Remediation is traceable to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Based on our many years of experience on residential, commercial, school and institutional projects and on our in-depth understanding of the standards of the industry, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Consulting Services and Microbiological Remediation services that are anticipated to be most often requested include:

IAQ Assessment

Interview building occupants/users, maintenance/custodial personnel, and facility managers to identify potential IAQ concerns.

Perform site inspections in order to observe existing and potential IAQ related issues.

Observe air conditioning equipment for evidence of micro-biological contamination.

Testing and laboratory analysis in order to identify micro-biological contaminants.

Assess the potential impact of findings on building occupants and facility operation.

Remediation

Develop remediation work plans that establish standards of performance and schedules for completion of micro-biological remediation work.

Develop Bidding, Contract and Construction Documents to be used to obtain competitive cost proposals from qualified specialty contractors to perform remediation work.

Assist the Owners to solicit competitive bids and select qualified specialty contractors to perform the remediation work.

Provide on-site direction and oversight of microbiological remediation.

Act as owners representative during performance of the remediation work in order to verify the work is performed in substantial compliance with the work plan.

Perform in-progress and post remediation sampling and analysis in order to verify the work is completed in accordance with the remediation work plan.

Consulting

Provide IAQ/Microbiological consulting services to Owners in order to assist in Operations and Maintenance Planning, routine response actions to IAQ issues and employee relations regarding such matters.

the State of Florida currently has no special licensing requirements for persons performing Indoor Air Quality consulting services and Microbiological Remediation consulting or contracting work. DMH Technical Consulting Services, Inc. is dedicated to maintaining appropriate levels of training to support a high standard of quality.

Construction Materials Testing Services

Published standards and protocol such as ASTM International, (ASTM, formerly the American Society for Testing and Materials), the American Concrete Institute (ACI), and the American Welding Society (AWS) as well as mandated codes and regulations provide the basis for Construction Materials Testing Services we provide. Proper application of those standards, protocol, codes and regulations can develop the data necessary to assess the progress of each project and can provide an indication the quality and acceptability of the work. Based on our many years of experience, Construction Materials Testing services that are anticipated to be most often requested include:

Soil Tests

Grain Size (Sieve) Analyses

Laboratory Determination of Moisture-Density Relationships (Proctor Tests)

In-Place Density (Compaction) Tests

Concrete Tests

Field Sampling of Fresh Concrete

Slump, Temperature and Air Content Measurement

Cast Cylinders for Laboratory Testing

Laboratory Testing to Determine Compressive Strength

Masonry Tests

Field Sampling of Masonry Mortar

Cast Prism Samples for Laboratory Testing

Laboratory Testing to Determine Compressive Strength

Welding Tests

Visual Inspection of Field Welded Connections for Metal Bar Joists

Roofing Tests

Field Inspection and Application/Temperature Monitoring

In-Place Uplift/Failure Tests

Interply Bitumen

Asphalt Tests

Determination of Asphalt Content and Aggregate Particle Size (Extraction/Gradation)

Other Construction Materials Testing services are occasionally necessary in order to verify the quality and performance of materials used on maintenance, land acquisition or construction projects. Our many years of experience include those less often required tests such as: obtaining and testing drilled concrete core samples, concrete flexural strength tests, various load tests, roofing tests (uplift or inter-ply bitumen content), radiography, exploratory soil boring or masonry testing (fire ratings and rate of absorption). We will be welcome the opportunity to determine those tests that might be best suited to produce the type of data necessary to assess the various aspects of each project.

Building and Construction Inspection Services

Published standards such as those established by the Southern Building Code Conference International (SBCCI) and the Florida Building Code (FBC) serve as the basis or our construction inspection services. Our depth knowledge of applicable codes and standards coupled with or intuitive understanding of construction means and methods allow us to offer a dependable source for independent Construction Inspection Services to building owners, architects, engineers and builders. Based on our many years of experience, typical Construction Inspection Services that are anticipated to be most often requested on projects include:

Water Intrusion Survey

Interview building users in order to gain understanding of potential water intrusion areas

Observe areas of suspected water intrusion

Utilize specialized instruments to locate and estimate the extent of wet and water damaged materials

Develop floor plan sketched marked up to depict the location(s) of wet and water damaged materials

Provide recommended scope of work for selective demolition of wet and water damaged materials and for drying of materials that can be salvaged and re-used.

Quality Assurance Inspection

Observe the general progress of the work

Review records of Construction Materials Testing

Compare the work product to applicable statutory requirements, codes and standards and the project specification requirements.

Pay Request Verification

Observe the general progress of the work in order to verify that the work is substantially completed to the extent builder requests payment.
